Our Philosophy
✔ Writing for fun ✔ Writing for self-expression ✔ Writing for writing's sake
At Write for Me, we believe in the value in writing for pleasure, writing as a form of self-expression and self-discovery, and writing for writing's sake. We are passionate about providing a space for writers to practise their creative thinking skills and participate in curated play. We find that when writers are encouraged to write from a place of curiosity and playfulness they produce interesting and unexpected work.
Write for Me workshops and courses are designed to support writers irrespective of where they are on their writing journey, including those writing creatively for the first time since formal education. We also welcome professional writers who want to write without deadlines or editors' notes in mind. We do provide thoughtful feedback and guidance during our sessions, but only if desired.
At Write for Me, we know how enjoyable picking up a pen, or putting fingertips to a keyboard, can be. We are happy to be an accessible and approachable space for everyone that wants to write.
Write for Me workshops are lead by writer Femi Keeling, who has over a decade of facilitation experience. Femi has delivered workshops for various arts venues and organisations including the Southbank Centre, the Barbican, Parasol Unit, and the Arvon Foundation. She has also worked extensively in education, health, and criminal justice settings in partnership with English PEN.
Femi is an alumna of the BBC Writers Room (London Voices) and her commissions include work for Sky (TV) and the Bush Theatre, where she is currently developing a play. She wrote for the Sony podcast You Had Me at Hello, hosted by Taye Diggs. Femi is from London and has lived in Surrey for eight years.
